Asbestos-related diseases, including mesothelioma and lung cancer, are becoming more common among brake and auto mechanics. Significant exposure to asbestos occurred during the repair and maintenance of asbestos-containing brake pads and linings, clutch facings and gaskets. Even those who worked in an auto shop where others were performing brake work could have been exposed to harmful asbestos dust and fibers.

Mesothelioma and asbestos-related diseases do not become evident at the moment of exposure. Typically, there is a latency period of approximately ten to fifty years between initial exposure to asbestos and the development of mesothelioma. For individuals who performed brake work (or were surrounded by those who did) from the 1930's to the 1990's, cases of mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis are just beginning to surface.

For brake and auto mechanics diagnosed with mesothelioma or another asbestos-related disease, legal remedies are available. At Lipsitz & Ponterio, LLC, our attorneys assist clients in filing third party mesothelioma and lung cancer lawsuits against the companies that wrongfully failed to warn against the hazards of asbestos exposure. It is important to act quickly in order to avoid having your claim disqualified by the statute of limitations. It is even more important to act quickly so that your case can be heard and decided before you become too ill to participate. In addition to third party lawsuits, our attorneys can also assist you in filing claims for Veterans' Benefits, Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability benefits.

Our attorneys are committed to our clients, and we will see your case through to completion. We do not refer cases to other law firms, and we have a track record of achieving success for thousands of our clients and their families.

Our attorneys work hard and diligently to get victims of asbestos exposure the compensation they deserve. We represent many clients who were exposed to asbestos while they resided and worked in the State of New York and who have retired to other locations. If you are retired and living in Florida or Arizona or anywhere else, we are prepared to travel to your home to meet with you and begin the process of bringing appropriate claims. We have prosecuted cases throughout New York State in the following cities: Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Albany, Binghamton, Ithaca, and New York City as well as served as co-counsel in various states.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma or another asbestos-related disease as a result of your exposure working with brakes or in an auto shop, contact us today for a free and confidential case evaluation.
